Using the information in my IDD, I developed a discussion prompt and an assignment prompt for one of the modules in my minicourse. The course learning outcomes (CLOs) from my IDD were incorporated to develop the prompts. The prompts are created using one of the discussion or assignment creation tools (Canvas LMS) introduced in this course.

Course Learning Outcomes: The following CLOs are aligned with the discussion/assignment prompts.

  • Discuss practical active learning strategies which could be used effectively in a diverse classroom.

  • Examine the challenges and benefits of active learning strategies to be able to use them effectively.

  • Choose effective active learning strategies appropriate for your group of students and the subject matter.

Module/Lesson Learning Objectives: The following module/lesson learning objectives are aligned with the assessment.

  • Find real-life examples of active learning strategies and practices which could be used effectively in a diverse classroom.

  • Examine the challenges and benefits of active learning strategies in a classroom.

  • Assess the learner's presentation project (video, audio, infographics or written format) where they create a plan for using active learning strategies for a group of their students.

Learning Materials: Using the learning material that the learner will interact with as part of the discussion/assignment and also this module/lesson, describes teaching frameworks that support active learning in the classrooms. After completing the reading and digital media content that discusses active learning strategies and techniques, the learner will be able to describe the teaching framework of active learning and planning future activities for their students. The material is added in the Module 1 of the minicourse developed using the Canvas LMS.

Reflection: The discussions and assignment tasks can help me understand the participants' level of learning of the topics discussed in the minicourse. These discussion/assignment prompts are developed following the guidelines of this course. The discussions or assignment prompts are designed in a way that it should be able to assess how well a learner has understood the topics discussed in this minicourse module. The information to be gathered from these prompts will continually improve the learning experience for future learners. By reading the discussions and assignment submitted by the learners (following the developed prompts), we can get a fair idea about the effectiveness of the developed prompts.

Instructions: The links to the discussion and the assignment prompts as well as the link to the IDD are provided on top of this page.
