Discussion & Assignment Prompt Rubrics

Please see below the links to the discussion and assignment activities (on the Canvas LMS with rubrics added to the LMS), as well as the links to the PDF versions of their respective rubrics (for quick viewing).

Checklist

Using the information in my IDD, I developed a rubric for the discussion (universal rubric that applies to both discussions) and a rubric for the assignment activity under a module in the minicourse. The rubrics are created using one of the rubric creation tools (Canvas LMS) introduced in this course.

Reflection: The discussions and assignment rubrics can help us for setting clear evaluation criteria for the activities, ensuring both the instructor and the learners understand performance expectations while completing the minicourse. These discussion/assignment rubrics are developed following the IDD of this course. The discussions or assignment rubrics are designed in a way that it guides how to assess learner's work, highlighting quality standards across various dimensions of the activities. While developing the two rubrics, thoughtful considerations were given on the discussion/assignment's objectives and its expected outcomes while ensuring valuable feedback opportunity for learner's learning growth. The rubrics promote clarity and transparency in the evaluation process. The critical elements of the rubrics were all covered that collectively make rubrics powerful tools for assessment and feedback. The developed rubrics are analytic rubrics and they break down the discussion/assignment into discrete components or criteria, with separate scores assigned to each as you can see (links provided above).

Instructions: The links to the discussion and the assignment activities (where the rubrics are added to the LMS) as well as the links to their PDF versions, plus the IDD, are provided on top of this page. In order to log in to the minicourse to access the rubrics, please use the following student username/email and the password. Once you log in, select the minicourse (EDU-1000) from the Dashboard. After you enter the course, please click on "rubrics" section from the left course navigation pane (to view both rubrics).
